Main issue of the memorandum is a cooperation in the EU-funded Galil-EU project. This targets the use of synergies from geodesy to transportation for new solutions and products, for example future safety- and assistant systems at transportation on road and rail, the data management of the infrastructure, the sensing of roads, streets and tracks, etc.
Other national partners in this cooperation are GEOsat GmbH, Zenit GmbH, AGIT GmbH and the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformation at the University of Bonn. Hansa Luftbild's member of the board Werner Scheper introduced his state-of-the-art mobile mapping technologies during the constitutive meeting in January.
The technique can be used for photogrammetric surveys of streets and rails and allows virtual field inspections any time through digital representation of the road network. The collected data can be stored in a local area network or on a cloud and easily accessed via web browsers. Users get the entire area of the road network as geo-referenced, high-resolution 3D images on their desktops and have the possibility of integrating additional spatial data, e.g. underground cables or sewerage network.
