The delegation of government and land administration officials was particularly interested in the implementation of SDI at national, state and city levels and visited governmental spatial data agencies servicing each of these levels.
Initially the delegation visited the Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (Bundesamt für Kartographie und Geodäsie - BKG), the agency responsible for the establishment of the national SDI, in Frankfurt am Main.
Following this Hansa Luftbild arranged for the delegation to visit a state agency, that of Information und Technik, North Rhine Westphalia (IT.NRW). There the delegation was briefed about SDIs at state level and were given an overview of North Rhine Westphalia’s SDI which complies with the INSPIRE Directive (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community).
Finally Hansa Luftbild arranged for the delegation to visit a city spatial data agency, that of the city of Muenster's Survey and Cadastre Department, where the delegates were given an overview of SDI at city level.
The delegates also visited Hansa Luftbild's office where they were introduced to the company's IT and GIS sections including their capabilities and resources. Hansa Luftbild is currently carrying out three major projects in Ethiopia.
