The 70’s – international period
The 60’s and the 70’s saw a return to a tradition of the 30’s, Hansa Luftbild once again had an overseas presence. The return signalled both Hansa Luftbild’s readiness for calculated risk taking and its professionalism.
The main areas of overseas operations were the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. The actual list of countries is lengthy – Algeria, Bolivia, Brazil, Congo, Libya, Madagascar, Nepal, Oman, Saudi Arabia, South West Africa (now Namibia), and Thailand. During this time Hansa Luftbild’s in-house equipment was improved and the automation of photogrammetric restitution was taken in hand. From 1979 on Hansa Luftbild’s aircraft gained their distinctive yellow colour which ensured both air safety and company recognition. The Aero Commanders were gradually replaced with Cessnas. 1983 saw the introduction of the Cessna 404 Titan, in 1990 the Cessna 210 Turbo replaced a 206 TU, and the Cessna 402 followed in 1993. Today the fleet consists of a single engine Cessna 210 Turbo Centurion and three twin-engined (402, 404) Cessnas.
