The 60’s – road construction period
Since the beginning of the sixties Hansa Luftbild aircraft have taken off from the airport known at that time as Greven-Huettrup, now known as Muenster-Osnabrueck. It was increasingly evident that for new construction and reconstruction of transport, utility and supply systems photogrammetry was the method of choice.
Aerial imagery and measurement techniques were distinguished by their ability to yield within a short time frame a maximum amount of information, of useful quality for planning. This applied not only in the case of motorway, road, rail and waterway planning but also for pipeline construction and the erection of high tension power lines.
The extension of "Westhofener Kreuz" between 1952 and 1964 on the interchange of today’s A1 and A43 underlines developments in aerial photography and planning.
The reparcelling of agricultural land proved a strong challenge to survey techniques. These challenges were met and overcome in a close working relationship between Hansa Luftbild and local bodies of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
City mapping had also taken off during this period.
