The 2008 award was presented to Dr. Ilkka Korpela for his essay „3D Treetop Positionning by Multiple Image Matching of Aerial Images in a 3D Search Volume Bounded by LiDAR Surface Models". The essay was published in issue no. 1/2007 of the „PHOTOGRAMMETRIE, FERNERKUNDUNG, GEOINFORMATION“ magazine.
